Welcome. My name is Dixie. I’m from a small town in Tennessee. I met my husband, Paul, on a cruise to the Bahamas in 1999 when he was still on active duty in the Air Force. He was living in Omaha, Nebraska when we met so we weren’t sure how we were ever going to begin any kind of a lasting relationship. But we figured it out and made the best of a very special, very romantic, long distance relationship that lasted for several months. Then we were married in October 2000. Since that day when we first met, it has been an amazing adventure and we have lived our lives to the fullest extent possible. We’ve traveled a lot of the world and even though we always enjoy the traveling, we are always glad when we return home.
We always make the best of every day together and always tell one another how much we “love our life” – not only our individual lives but our life together just as much. We honestly believe we were destined to be together.
We’re creative, resourceful, and proactive people. We’re planners and do it yourselfers.
We’ve thought for a long time that we could maybe…. just maybe pass along some of the creativity, productivity, experience, resourcefulness and initiative we have to anyone willing to listen, but just never had the time.
We’ve recently realized that we finally have the time to reach out after Paul retired for the second time from the US Air Force. He faithfully served for over forty two years – the first twenty one in uniform, having retired the first time in March of 2000 just a few months after we first met. Since then he worked as a civilian for the US Air Force and retired again on December 31st, 2019.
So we decided in order to reach as many people as possible, why not use the tools we all have at our disposal today?
And here we are. Our blog is about ideas and experiences – experiences some of you probably can relate to. Our blog is about creativity and resourcefulness. We’ll share some of our own DIY projects, life stories, anecdotes, recipes, travel stories along with dos and don’ts, some military “there I was” experiences and lots of other fun and useful information.
We sincerely hope you find some of what we provide inspiring and useful.
