(This is a three part post. Read Phase I and Phase II here!)
I’m In Love!
We have finished the kitchen update! And it has turned out great. I just keep walking in our kitchen and asking myself, “Is this really the same kitchen?”.
We’ve redone/remodeled almost every aspect of our house over the past 15 years. I’m very aware of how much PAINT can do. You can transform a room with a gallon of paint.
I knew when we started this project, with our main focus on having the cabinets painted, that it would be a huge change in appearance to the room. But I was unprepared for just how much of a change – Not only to the kitchen but the entire downstairs of our house. Our floor plan is very open and you can see the kitchen from every room but the bathroom.
Before and after photos:
I’m still taking peeks at it from another room and…smiling!
Not only did all of the changes we made update the kitchen and make it look clean and fresh, it also made the kitchen look so much larger! Going from oak cabinets to white and painting all the trim around the door facings and windows, brightened everything up and just made the space look more ROOMY and definitely more WELCOMING!
I feel like this is one of our best decisions we’ve made toward remodeling in our home. We made a few changes to the kitchen to add a little more space and functionality. AND, it was all our own ideas and design.
(There may have been a glass or two of wine involved in the decision making!)
Our only regret is that we did not do this sooner. We’ve always gathered in the kitchen. When we have friends over or our family is visiting, we always hang out in the kitchen. It’s the hub of the house.
It’s exciting to have casual seating at the expanded island and family-style meals but also still have space to prepare food.
Going with the Hulett Ore Sherwin Williams color for the island was a last minute decision but I think it turned out nice and helps tie in the existing backsplash that we didn’t want to have to tackle and redo. (Paul installed the backsplash years ago and it was quite a project.)
Now, I can see even more time in our future spent in this room, cooking and enjoying the space.
And, I also hope it brings enjoyment to the next owners after we have moved on!
