These One Hour Dinner Rolls are fairly easy to make. If you have never made homemade bread or rolls, this may be a good recipe to start with. This recipe is simple, easy to follow and tasty.
Happy Easter! Yes, it is a different Easter this year with us all staying home and not being able to celebrate in traditional ways and celebrate with our families. We did two different Zoom virtual family get-togethers today. It’s not the same but at least we got to see several members of our family.
This morning on our daily walk we had an Easter egg hunt! Earlier in the week a neighbor dropped off an 8×10 copy of an Easter egg with instructions to color the egg, or have the kids or grand-kids color it, and place it in your window. Then today, on Easter, it would be a way for the families and kids to go for an egg hunt and search for eggs from the safely of their cars. We do not have kids at home. It’s just the two of us but decided to get involved and have fun with it. We made copies of it and colored several eggs and placed them in the front windows of our house – including a few hand-written signs for the front door. Very nontraditional, I know.
We are at least trying to keep our meal as traditional as possible. With a glazed Easter ham, vegetables, dessert and these One Hour Dinner Rolls.
I hope you give this recipe a try.
Hope everyone has a Happy Easter and stay safe!
1 Hour Dinner Rolls
Equipment
- Mixer
- Baking sheet
Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cup warm water
- 1/3 cup oil
- 2 tbs active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 egg
- 2 tbs butter, melted
- 3 1/2 cups all purpose flour
Instructions
- Place water, sugar and yeast into bowl of stand mixer with a dough hook attachment. Stir together and let stand for 5-10 minutes. This will 'proof' the yeast. It should be foamy and bubbly. If not start over and check the expiration date on your yeast.
- After water and yeast are proofed, add oil and mix on low for a few seconds.
- Add salt, egg and melted butter and mix until incorporated.
- Add flour a cup at a time until a ball has formed on the dough hook. You may need to adjust the amount of flour added according to your altitude. You want it to be a soft consistency, not too sticky, not too dry.
- Form into 12-14 balls and place on a baking sheet sprayed with cooking spray.
- Set aside and let rise for 45 minutes.
- Cook rolls in a 400 degree oven for 12-14 minutes. Keep an eye on them and don't let them overcook.
- Serve with butter.
