This sugar free dessert taste so good, you won’t realize you are eating a
sugar free dessert.

We had family visit a few days ago and this dessert was easy to put together before they got here.  It keeps well in the refrigerator for a few days.

My step-father is diabetic and has always stuck to his diet since he was diagnosed years ago.  So when he visits I always try and have a sugar free dessert for him to indulge in.  Since this recipe doesn’t taste like you are eating a sugar free dessert, this is the only dessert I made.  My great nephew and niece were here also and this is definitely a kid-friendly dessert as well.  We all enjoyed it!

I accidentally grabbed one banana cream sugar free Jello pudding when I was at the store.  (I thought I was buying two packages of vanilla flavored.  The boxes look almost identical).  Not wanting to run back to the store, I used the banana cream and vanilla and mixed the two flavors together.  It actually added a nice flavor to the dessert.  Really you could use whatever flavor puddings you’d like.  But I wanted to keep it patriotic with ‘Independence Day ‘ colors!

This makes a festive 4th of July recipe also.  All the colors of the dish make a pretty red, white and blue theme.

Delicious, Easy and Beautiful!

This dessert looks more complicated than it is and it makes an impressive display when layered in a clear dish to show off the different ingredients.

  • 1 16 oz Strawberries, fresh, sliced

Instructions

  • Bake chocolate Devil Food cake as directed on box. Let cool completely.
  • Mix puddings as directed on box using fat free, skim milk. Place in refrigerator to set.
  • Cut cake into bite-size squares.
  • In a trifle dish layer pudding, cake, cool whip and berries.
  • Continue until dish is filled. Finishing top with berries.
I had  some cake left over  – you will probably not use all of it.

I did used all my pudding and Cool Whip but it didn’t fit into the trifle dish so I made 2 cute kid-sized servings in stemless wine glasses!
