ZOOM Virtual First Birthday Party

But this ‘ZOOM’ virtual video birthday party for our one year old granddaughter really was a lot of fun….

Our youngest granddaughter turned one on March 26th, 2020.

In light of current world events and the mandated self quarantine and stay at home orders taking place everywhere due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we organized a ‘ZOOM’ virtual birthday party on March 28th to watch her attack her first birthday cake. And boy oh boy did she ever attack that chocolate cake – a total mess, but just what we all needed to see.

It was definitely uplifting and inspiring to see the innocence of a child having so much fun. We were all thankful that we are healthy and able to meet in this manner and enjoy our family being together, even if it was virtually. Our hearts go out to those who are suffering during these troubling times.

I’ve sat in countless video teleconferences for work – never really fun, but I believe we may see a lot more of our work being conducted in this manner as more and more people will, no doubt, be working from home in the future.  Our ‘new normal’ is yet to be determined, but without a doubt, it won’t be the same as before the COVID-19 pandemic.

But this ‘ZOOM’ virtual video birthday party for our one year old granddaughter really was a lot of fun….

…..not as much, obviously, as actually getting together and talking and being able to hold her and our other grandchildren and adult children, but we hope and pray we will be able to do that soon.

Our little granddaughter doesn’t know it yet, but she is going to have another birthday party very soon, hopefully this summer and she’ll even be able to open the gifts we’ve all bought for her to open. That’ll be fun to watch too.  And I’m sure she will have at least one more birthday cake then too to attack and devour.  I can’t wait!

So, if you don’t have the free ‘ZOOM’ app yet, get it and have a family get together. It doesn’t have to be a birthday party or anything special – just do it.  I know you’ll be happy you did.
