DIY Wood Planter Box

Succulent plants need to be planted in a container that drains really well.  Some articles we read while researching succulents said the pot or container should be ‘breathable’.

We recently bought some succulent plants and have been searching for just the right container or planter for them.  We kind of knew what we wanted and after searching around in a few local stores and online, we decided to make our own.

Honestly, succulents are hard to grow.  Hopefully these will survive. Continue reading “DIY Wood Planter Box”

This is one of the quickest desserts you can make.  AND, it’s delicious.  It’s perfect for the summer – you don’t have to heat your oven.

NO-BAKE dessert!

Layer sliced strawberries, graham crackers, lite cool whip and drizzle the top with chocolate syrup. Mmmm!

Grab a 13 x 9 glass or plastic cake pan.  Something preferably with a lid.  So you can save the leftovers and put it in the refrigerator for later.  This dessert is just as good the next day as the day you make it.  The graham crackers do get a little softer and it will have a different texture, but it still holds up better than you would imagine.

If you’re craving salsa from your favorite restaurant, give this easy recipe a try.  It’s so much better than the salsa from a jar you can buy at the store.  And, you can control the amount of ‘heat’ to suite you taste.

This recipe was given to me from my sister about 25 years ago.  When I was thinking of posting this recipe, I dug out my old recipe file that I made and put together in my High School Home Economics Class.
We were required to write out a certain number of recipes and turn it in for a grade.  My file box collected other recipes over the years. And this one was tucked inside the file box.

This French Bread can be ready and hot out of the oven in 1 hour! Yes, that’s right..fresh bread, piping hot, smeared with butter. Yummy.

Last week I was making homemade lasagna and couldn’t stop thinking about French bread to go with it.  I have had homemade bread on my mind since I recently got a new French bread pan and was excited to try it out.  But it was already late in the day and I wasn’t sure I had time to get the bread mixed, let it rise and cooked before I planned to served dinner.
