Chocolate Covered Bourbon Strawberries

Perfect, quick dessert that makes a nice presentation. Strawberries soaked in Bourbon, dipped in chocolate and then rolled in nuts!

Strawberries soaked in Bourbon

Strawberries soaked in bourbon then covered in chocolate….what more do I need to say?

These are perfect for Valentines, a holiday or just any day of the week!

They are SO easy to make.  But it looks like you spent a lot more time than you actually did!

I like to make these for birthdays or when we are having guests for dinner and don’t want to spend a lot of time on dessert.

Soak the strawberries in Bourbon, let them set for a few hours (less if you’re in a hurry), then melt chocolate and dip them.  I like to roll some in chopped nuts – so, people will have a choice.  That’s it!  DONE!
And, if you have priced store-bought chocolate covered strawberries, you know it is more economical to make them.

Easy and Delicious.  They go really well with MORE bourbon or a glass of bubbly.

Ingredients

  • 16-20 Strawberries, do not cap
  • Equal parts of Bourbon and water (enough to soak the strawberries)
  • 1 1/2 cup Dark chocolate chips
  • 1 cup Walnuts, finely chopped

Instructions

  • In a medium sized glass bowl, add Bourbon and water. (I used Bulleit Bourbon)

  • Wash strawberries and add to Bourbon and water. Let soak for 1 hour or more at room temperature, gently moving the strawberries around so that all are able to soak.
  • Remove the strawberries, discard the Bourbon and water, and dry the strawberries on a clean cloth or paper towels.
  • In a microwave-safe glass dish, melt chocolate chips on 30 second intervals, stirring well until chips have melted.
  • Dip strawberries in chocolate and transfer to parchment paper or wax paper and place in refrigerator until well chilled and chocolate has set. (If using nuts, dip strawberries in chocolate then roll in the chopped nuts.)

When I made these, I only made six – for the two of us (portion control!).

These will keep in the frig for 24 hours.  But best if eaten within a few hours of making them.
