This is one of the quickest desserts you can make. AND, it’s delicious. It’s perfect for the summer – you don’t have to heat your oven.
NO-BAKE dessert!
Layer sliced strawberries, graham crackers, lite cool whip and drizzle the top with chocolate syrup. Mmmm!
Grab a 13 x 9 glass or plastic cake pan. Something preferably with a lid. So you can save the leftovers and put it in the refrigerator for later. This dessert is just as good the next day as the day you make it. The graham crackers do get a little softer and it will have a different texture, but it still holds up better than you would imagine.
I made this Layered Strawberry No-Bake Dessert this past weekend when we had our youngest daughter and family for an overnight visit.
Paul helped me and we made it early in the morning and put it in the refrigerator for later that night after dinner.
Later I realized I had a ‘layer’ entree and a ‘layer’ dessert. We had lasagna with meat and lasagna with vegetables for dinner. I did not plan this but it was two easy dishes to make ahead. I wanted to make sure I was not in the kitchen preparing food, but instead enjoying every second with our two youngest grandchildren! It had been a few months since we had seen them.
You can make this with any berries. I’ve made it with strawberries and blueberries. But I think raspberries and blackberries would also be good. I’ve always used fresh berries, but I’m sure you could also use frozen berries, thawed.
And, I just use bottled Hershey’s Dark Chocolate Syrup. Of course, you could melt chocolate chips in the microwave and use that to drizzle over the top. But it kind of defeats the whole idea that this is a quick dessert. I say go for the easy button on this one!
Sometimes I’ve had trouble finding Chocolate Grahams. When I do find them, I usually stock up with several boxes. So, if the only thing you have on hand or can find at your local store is the cinnamon or honey flavored just use that in place of chocolate flavored.
This is a light dessert. No it’s not calorie free, but as far as desserts are concerned, this one ranks pretty low in fat and calories.
Layered Strawberry No-Bake Dessert
Ingredients
- 1 8oz Tub of lite Cool Whip
- 2 lbs Fresh strawberries, sliced
- 2-3 sleeves Chocolate Graham Crackers (1 box is 14.4 oz. You probabaly won't use the entire box)
- 2-3 tbs Dark Chocolate Syrup (I used Hersheys brand)
Instructions
- In a 13 x 9 glass or plastic dish (preferrably with a lid), spread a layer of Cool Whip.
- For the next layer place Chocolate Graham Crackers (covering the Cool Whip). Break them up as needed.
- Place a layer of sliced strawberries.
- Repeat layers, ending with sliced strawberries on top.
- Drizzle Dark Chocolate Syrup over the top.
- Cover and place in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
- This dessert will last in the frig for up to 3 days.
